Glock 43 For Concealed Carry - As a long-time owner and frequent user of full-size and compact Glocks, it was music to my ears when the company finally released a subcompact 9mm that wasn't as bulky as the Model 26. The six-plus-one 43 capacity Glock was a welcome addition to my EDC when it was new. .

This relatively flat gun is easy to store, but large enough to take on serious shooting duties. With the controls in all the same places, the same polymer sights, and the trigger built just like my Gen 4 Glock 17, it's easy to operate because everything is familiar. There are no thumb guards to remember, no safety grips to accidentally detach, no long trigger pulls, and no hair trigger. The slider is thin enough to hide in the waistband, but not so thin as to make it a fine rather than a gross motor activity. And, if you're left-handed, the mag release is reversed.

I wore that 43 for several years and with it I scored high marks in several qualifications. A couple of students also bought their own .43s and had a lot of fun shooting mini-competitions with both gun models. It also helped us all feel more prepared that the 43 was our everyday carry guns.

Like its larger Glock counterparts, the 43 has never malfunctioned. It performed with complete reliability, as did my companions' 43s, regardless of the brand of ammo or type of case we used.

A slight downside to the 43 is that, unlike other Glocks in my collection, the magazines are not interchangeable between guns. The staggered, not quite double stack configuration of the 43 mag is not like a standard, and certainly wider, standard Glock.

A total of seven rounds is not a lot. I always carry an extra mag when I carry the 43, just for peace of mind.

A few years after the release of the 43, Glock introduced its offspring - the 43X. It's like a 43, both holsters fit both guns, but the 43X has a 10 round mag for that little extra. I borrowed a friend's 43X to try, and found the grip too long to conceal properly. So I stayed with my 43 for a while longer. At one point I tried an eight-round spare magazine, but it would only spin properly if it only held seven rounds. That increased mag size led to the same problem I had with the 43X. So I stuck a six round mag in the gun and another in my pocket.

One good thing about the 43 and 43X is that the cases have a lot going for them. IWB, OWB, you name it, almost every holster maker, including Bravo Concealment, makes a holster for 43/43X pistols. That's a big advantage, because deciding on a holster is sometimes a more difficult task than choosing a gun. The same goes for backup vision options.

It's been a while since I first bought my 43 and other companies have started making concealment pistols with a similar footprint to the 43 but with slightly larger mag capacities. Sig Sauer was the first, launching its P365 with its 10-round magazine, followed by factory 12- and 15-rounders that fit and functioned well. The bull followed the G2C, with a 12-round mag. Then Springfield Armory disrupted the concealed carry world with their 13+1 Hellcat in a package nearly identical in size to the P365. All of these guns are slightly thicker than the .43 while boasting a shorter overall length – they're as close to concealed carry nirvana as the market now offers.

It's a shame Glock hasn't stepped up with their own higher-capacity, carry-oriented pistols. 43 is a reliable, concealed-carry shooter, but it has been overtaken by the availability of newer, higher-capacity subcompacts. However, the 43 still costs $500 more in most markets. A combination of those factors is why I recently sold my 43 when I realized that the little Sig had taken over my choice of carry gun and I could have put that money toward a new gun kit I had seen.

If you are considering a 43 or already own one, don't let this stop you. There's nothing wrong with that---but at the intersection of capacity and stealth, it's no longer at the top of the pack.

Not like them (I don't like the h*** word - too much of it in the world today). The shooting world is separate when it comes to this company's firearms. Some shooters will only buy a Glock. Others won't buy if it's the only gun in the store.

In some with small hands. They are too simplistic for others. No thumb safety for other shooters. Some even say they are too expensive.

However, if you're on the other side of the aisle, these are just the best all-around guns. There isn't much of a gray area with these guns. One thing many can agree on, however, is that the M43 is a great concealed carry pistol.

Glock 43 Iwb Kydex Holster

Glock is an Austrian company that has grown from a small domestic product manufacturer to one of the largest gun manufacturers in the world. An estimated 65% of law enforcement agencies in the US. the user of Glock pistols and his share of the world cannot be counted.

The 9mm Glock 43 pistol quite shocked the shooting world when it was released in April 2015. Bold and powerfully inspired by the Glock, it was the first 9mm of the bunch produced by the company. Demand for such a gun is high among glocophiles. Many were disappointed, if I recall correctly, that Glock introduced the M42 .380 before the 9mm version came out.

In any case, it was a good seller and remains so to this day, although I would imagine that the dual 43X took a bit of a toll on its sales. Many people would rather have 10 rounds in a flash-fit 43X magazine than a standard 6-round 43, given the choice, even though the grip is wider. At least there are extended magazines for the 43, one of which is pictured here.

So now we know where the company is coming from and how the Gen 3 pistol differs from, say, a Gen 4. This is all basic knowledge needed to discuss Glock firearms with any understanding. in terms, generations, etc. What about the gun model in front of us now? Why did Glock decide to come out with their first single subcompact 9mm? In other words, demand.

43 was the first service-caliber Glock that could be carried in a pants pocket. I know guys who do this. Weighing 20 ounces or more loaded and only four and a quarter inches tall, it fits in a pocket holster. (Never carry a pocket gun in just your pocket - it goes in a holster).

Another question I get asked from time to time is "what generation is 43?", to which I answer "myself". The 43 is technically a Gen 4. but at a quick glance it looks like a Gen 5 without the finger grooves. But there is no Gen 5 ambidextrous slide stop / release and no nDLC finish, but it does have a Marksman barrel.

So this is the pinnacle of Gen 5 pistols. It's one of the most popular Glocks out there and they sell a lot. At least my friends who own them really like them, no matter what generation they are.

The beveled impact block helps the slider to be a bit more responsive due to its beveled edges. Some other manufacturers have adopted a similar block.
